Awards
The Louisville Metro Police Explorer Program
recognizes explorers who have improved or mastered different skills,
attended special trainings, contributed to the department, have outstanding
attendance, and other special accomplishments by using the following
awards.
COMMUNITY SERVICE

Acknowledges 500 hours of community service, including: crowd and traffic
control; parking services; community events; etc. Service must be pre-approved
and logged by the advisor.
LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING

Recognizes successful completion of The Louisville Metro Police Explorer
Academy. The following education and training is covered at the academy:
* History of law enforcement
* The contemporary law enforcement role
* The criminal justice system
* Radio communications
* Basic patrol procedures
* Report writing
* Criminal law
* Juvenile law
* Traffic law
* Investigation procedures
* Human relations
* Crime prevention
* Accident investigations
* Crime scene investigations
* Fingerprinting and classification
* Narcotics control and investigations
* Arrest and search procedures
PERFECT ATTENDANCE

Recognizes perfect attendance at each scheduled meeting of the program
during the proceeding year.
LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE

Recognizes an accumulation of 100 hours of service, including assistance
to the police department in areas such as records, communications, data
processing, etc.
TENURE

Awarded to those explorers who complete five years of satisfactory service
to the program.
EXPLORER OF THE YEAR

The Louisville Metro Police Department recognizes
one explorer each year. The explorer is selected on the basis of: dependability,
attitude, attendance; and contributions to the program, department,
and the community. Explorers of the Year are recognized for their outstanding
performance and dedication. This is the highest award received by an
explorer.
NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORING
CONFERENCE

Presented to explorers who attend the National Law Enforcement Exploring
Conference.
NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORING
LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Presented to explorers selected to attend the National Law Enforcement
Exploring Leadership Academy.
EAGLE OR GOLD AWARD RECOGNITION

Worn to recognize explorers who have achieved the Boy Scouts of America
or Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. highest award and honor (the BSA Eagle
or GSUSA Gold).
VIRGINIA LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPLORER
CONFERENCE

Presented to explorers who have attended the
Virginia Law Enforcement Explorer Conference in Front Royal, Virginia.
